dc.description.abstractThe new global understanding of the relationship between environment and life has urged the establishment of actions, regulations and new citizen behaviors in favor of the care and protection of the environment. The main objective of this research work was to design pedagogical strategies based on plastic waste management for the development of environmental culture in elementary school students. For the development of the study, a qualitative methodology of descriptive scope was used, with an Educational Action Research design, mediated by Reflection Cycles, with the participation of 60 fifth grade students of the Alberto Lleras Camargo Educational Institution, as well as 30 teachers, and 60 parents, since this work is carried out involving the educational community in general. The techniques used were interviews, focus groups, questionnaires, with the support of instruments such as matrices, rubrics and field diaries. The results of this study made it possible to determine the importance of the teaching practice (planning, implementation and evaluation of learning); the strengthening of aspects such as environmental culture, pedagogical strategies and plastic waste management that lead students to the construction of an environmentally friendly environment that will allow them as future citizens to act with greater awareness than their predecessors have had in the last century.
