- ItemEnvironmental Impact of the Use of Mycorrhizae as Plant Growth Promoting Microorganisms in Melon Cultivation in the City of Valledupar(Universidad Popular del Cesar, 2025) Rois Mendoza, Jose Ricardo; Ospino Farelo, Greicy Liliana; Rodríguez Duarte,Caleb; Brochero Gámez,Nayarith Paola; Taborda Catalán,Luis AlbertoAbstract The main objective of this research was to determine the environmental impact of the use of mycorrhizae as microorganisms that promote plant growth in the city of Valledupar. In melon cultivation, different rhythmic practices are used to achieve greater vegetative development and fruit part. It was proven that the use of mycorrhizal fungi as growth-promoting microorganisms in melon crops, symbiotically interrelated with the plant's root system, supply nutrients such as phosphorus, nitrogen and potassium, increasing absorption at the same time that the root system becomes effective in water consumption, increasing crop yield. In this research, a randomized factor design was developed with 11 treatments and three replications. The following were evaluated: thenumber of fruits per plant, average weight of fruits, weight of fruits at harvest and percentage of sugars. The research was carried out in the crops of the Finca Los Recuerdos de Ella, located in the township of Guacochito, located at a distance of 21 kmfrom the city of Valledupar. This exam took place in the months of June to August 2024, in different trials. It was carried out in ten experimental units in an area of 2 square meters each; located in a sector of 5 hectares, with six treatments and two application beds of two thousand five hundred square meters each. Keywords:Soil fertilization, environmental impact, mycorrhiza, land use
- ItemPayment Mechanism for Environmental Services of the Sabana Rubia Paramo, Anexperience towards Environmental Sustainability(2025) Torres Cervera, Karina; Villero Amaya, LuisAlberto ;Corzo Pacheco, Luz Karina;aborda Catalán, Luis Alberto; Manjarrez Pontón,César AlfonsoAbstract This research strives to know the feasibility of the payment for environmental services (PES) mechanism within the Rubia Páramo savannah páramo, located in the municipality of Manaure Balcón del Cesar, Colombia, with a particular approach that incorporatesmethods such as contingent valuation, the willingness of local communities to pay (DAP) using logistic model and MCO. The results revealed that 71.73% of respondents know the páramo and value its ecosystem services, highlighting that women with the highest level of education are 1.45 times more likely to pay than men. The projected financial value of the estimated DAP is COP$500 per individual, suggesting an annual total of COP$615,792,000 if comprehensive coverage is achieved. The research concludes that, despite the social challenges, the PES could be an effective tool for conservation, especially if institutional trust is strengthened and awareness strategies are implemented. Keywords:Payment for Environmental Services, willingness to pay, conservation, Barbaric Savannah Paramo, economic valuation.
- ItemCritical thinking as a fundamental tool in contemporary higher education: conceptualization, characteristics, importance and dimensions(2025) Martínez Barrio,Hermes Emilo; Rodríguez Díaz, Yim James; Martínez Arredondo, Leonardo EnriqueAbstract This study, framed within the interpretive paradigm and a qualitative approach, conducts a documentary review and hermeneutic analysis in three movements (preunderstanding, interpretive analysis, and critical synthesis). Sources were selected for theoretical relevance and didactic pertinence; units of analysis included definitions of critical thinking (CT), lists of skills and dispositions, tensions between generality and specificity, and curricular proposals. The analysis prioritized conceptual consistency and pedagogical utility, recording traceable paraphrases and quotations. Findings show that CT is a cognitive and ethical process that organizes, evaluates, and relates information to guide warranted judgments. Its formative purpose requires evidence, crosschecking of sources, systematic observation, and, where appropriate, scientific method. CT yields personal benefits (autonomy, coherence between values and decisions), professional outcomes (strategic vision, innovation), and social gains (verification against misinformation). Core traits include objectivity, rigorous observation, analysis, sustained inquiry, and continuous reflection as an intellectual habit. Structurally, CT integrates three interdependent dimensions: skills (interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation, and self-regulation), dispositions (perseverance, humility, empathy, curiosity, and autonomy), and knowledge (general information, disciplinary expertise, and experience). This triad enables responsible decision-making, problem solving, and informed public participation, and it guides integral, effective criteria for teaching and assessment.
