dc.description.abstractLa presente investigación está dirigida a determinar el conocimiento y la práctica de la citología cervicouterina en las estudiantes del programa de Instrumentación Quirúrgica de la Universidad Popular del Cesar. En función de ello, el estudio se sustentó en conocer las características sociodemográficas de los estudiantes y en determinar el nivel de conocimiento y de las prácticas hacia la citología cervicouterina en las estudiantes del programa de Instrumentación Quirúrgica de la Universidad Popular del Cesar. Metodológicamente el estudio fue descriptivo, prospectivo y de corte transversal; con una población de 423 sujetos aplicando formula de muestra arrojando una muestra de 361 estudiantes, a los cuales se les aplico un cuestionario, por medio de la estadística descriptiva empleando el programa de Excel 2016, bajo presentación de tablas y graficas con su respectivo análisis. Obteniendo los siguientes resultados; las estudiantes se encuentran entre 16 y 20 años de edad, son solteras, de procedencia rural y de régimen subsidiado, con respecto, al conocimiento sobre que es la citología cervicouterina, el 92% de las estudiantes respondieron, que es un examen que se realiza en el cuello uterino, dónde se toma la prueba citología cervicouterina, el 95% dice que se toma en el cuello uterino y cuál es la utilidad, el 90% dijo que es un examen utilizado para detectar el cáncer de cuello uterino. Así mismo el 92% de las estudiantes saben cuándo realizarse la citología, igualmente el 67% de las estudiantes se han realizado la citología y el 33% no han iniciado su vida sexual, sin embargo, el 80% de las estudiantes no se han realizado la citología cervicouterina por falta de tiempo. Como conclusión, observamos que las estudiantes tienen amplio conocimiento con respecto a la citología cervicouterina, así mismo, se han realizado el examen, pero vemos que se realiza muy poco por falta de tiempo. SUMMARY The present investigation is aimed at determining the knowledge and practice of cervical cytology in the students of the Surgical Instrumentation program of the Popular University of Cesar. Based on this, the study was based on knowing the sociodemographic characteristics of the students and determining the level of knowledge and the usual and unusual practices of the students of the Surgical Instrumentation program of the Popular University of Cesar. Methodologically, the study was descriptive, prospective and cross-sectional; with a population of 423 subjects applying sample formula yielding a sample of 361 students, to whom a questionnaire was applied, through descriptive statistics using the Excel 2016 program, under the presentation of tables and graphs with their respective analysis. Obtaining the following results; the students are between an age between 16-20 years, they are single, of rural origin and of subsidized regime, with respect to the knowledge regarding cytology that the students know cervical cytology, in this way 92% of the students are aware that it is a test that is performed on the cervix, 95% that it is taken on the cervix and 90% that it is used to detect cervical cancer. Likewise, 92% of the students know how often the cytology should be performed, it is recognized that 67% of the students have performed the cytology and the other 33% have not started their sexual life, however, 80% of the students have not had cervical cytology performed due to lack of time. In conclusion, we see that the students have extensive knowledge regarding cervical cytology, likewise, they have taken the exam, but we see that it is very little practiced due to lack of time.
