dc.description.abstractDesde un enfoque cuantitativo se realiza el presente trabajo investigativo que pretende establecer la relación entre alexitimia y estrategias de afrontamiento en los estudiantes de ingeniería de la Universidad Popular del Cesar durante el periodo 2019 I-II a partir de una caracterización de variables sociodemográficas, identificación de los niveles de riesgo de alexitimia y la determinación de estrategias de afrontamiento que desempeñan los estudiantes, cuya investigación posee un alcance correlacional y los instrumentos utilizados fueron la escala de alexitimia TAS-20 y la escala de estrategias de afrontamiento EEC-M. Los hallazgos permitieron establecer que el 14% de los estudiantes no tienen alexitimia y las estrategias de más predominantes son espera, apoyo profesional-social, religión, reacción agresiva junto con dificultades para solucionar problemas ;sumado a esto reflejan dificultades al momento de encontrar palabras para describir sus emociones y sostienen un pensamiento orientado a situaciones externas por lo que su forma de asimilar se enfrenta una limitada capacidad de introspección, lo que puede generar claramente consecuencias no sólo por tener problemas al comunicarse; sino también por no poder realizar una lectura correcta de las emociones del otro. A partir de lo anterior se pudo establecer que, existe correlación significativa entre las variables mencionadas, concluyendo que a menor alexitimia mayor facilidad de emplear estrategias de afrontamiento. Lo anterior ubicado en la línea de investigación de Psicología Clínica y de la Salud situando la trascendencia de las emociones en el desarrollo humano en la forma de percibir la etapa universitaria. Abstract From a quantitative approach, the present research work is carried out that aims to establish the relationship between alexithymia and coping strategies in engineering students of the Popular University of Cesar during the period 2019 I-II from a characterization of sociodemographic variables, identification of the risk levels of alexithymia and the determination of coping strategies performed by students. The research has a correlational scope and the instruments used were the TAS-20 alexithymia scale and the EEC-M coping strategies scale. The findings allowed to establish that % of the students have alexithymia and the most predominant strategies are waiting, professional-social support, religion, aggressive reaction along with difficulties in solving problems, added to this they reflect difficulties when finding words to describe their emotions and hold a thought oriented to external situations so that their way of assimilating faces a limited capacity for introspection, which can clearly generate consequences not only for having problems when communicating; but also for not being able to make a correct reading of the emotions of the other. From the above, it was possible to establish that there is a significant correlation between the mentioned variables, concluding that the lower the alexithymia, the easier it is to use coping strategies.
