Abstract
Abstract
Recognizing the Flores Copeyanas as a symbol of cultural resistance in the identity of women from El Copey allows for an understanding of the close relationship between nature, culture, and the social construction of territory. Therefore, this qualitative study was proposed with the purpose of making visible the role of this metaphor in the representation of women and in the preservation of traditional knowledge. Over time, cultural transformation processes have emerged that have invisibilized meanings and expressions associated with femininity and female resistance, contributing to the loss of identity references within the community. In a study conducted in El Copey, Cesar, Participatory Action Research (IAP) was applied to groups of women who had previously participated in the parade and who also had knowledge about its origins, with the objective of identifying and understanding the different processes of cultural resistance that women from the municipality of El Copey have experienced in keeping this emblematic community event alive. 3 key subcategories were identified: Historical origin, clothing, and social incidence; with the aim of learning more about the history of the Copeyan Flowers
The study, with a qualitative approach and ethnographic methodology, used interviews with a group of 8 women who have participated for more than 5 years in the parade of Copeyan flowers, focus groups and participant observation to analyze the impact that this symbol has on the municipality.
It is expected that this process will contribute to the resignification of the Flores Copeyanas as cultural emblems, promoting their preservation and the recognition of the practices that revolve around them.
