"NEBINYAKU KANKUI" estudio de la música tradicional kankuama
(2025-05-29) Chiquillo Ardila, Ana Sofia; Ramírez Cubillos, Aldemar
The various indigenous musical expressions in Colombia are prone to progressive loss due to acculturation and other factors. Therefore, the purpose of this research was to analyze the musical tradition of the Kankuama Indigenous people, which is one of the pillars of the region. This research employed a qualitative method and an ethnographic approach. Techniques and instruments such as semi-structured interviews, participatory observation, and fieldwork were also applied to some of the traditional musicians of the communities of Atánquez and Rio Seco. The project achieved its objectives, including the collection, analysis, and documentation of the main elements of traditional Kankuama music. This work was conducted under the research line "Music, Pedagogy, and Culture," as it primarily encompasses music, teaching, transmission, and tools to contribute to the preservation of musical and cultural elements representative of the Kankuama Indigenous community. In this way, the excellent value of this culture is confirmed and the problem of the progressive loss of its traditional music is analyzed. Therefore, it is concluded that to help preserve its tradition, it is essential to document its constituent elements, always considering respect for its cultural heritage, identity, and beliefs.
